Ryan Falkenstein ‘23 commits to play lacrosse at the University of Maryland to further his lacrosse career

As a senior, Falkenstein has one year left with his Friar Brothers; however, following graduation in 2023, he will be continuing his career at one of the top lacrosse programs in the nation

Ryan Falkenstein Falk’s recruitment process was both exciting and optimistic with him receiving tons of interest and offers from numerous division one schools.

“My commitment process was very exciting for me because I truly didn’t know what to expect on September 1st. I gladly received interest from some of the top D1 schools in the country and got to talk to some of the greatest names in lacrosse. Even though my decision was fairly easy with it being a dream to play Maryland lacrosse. After 2 visits to Maryland I was ready to tell coach Tillman that it felt like home and I was ready to commit”, Falk stated.

Falk’s persistence and commitment to the sport of lacrosse along with the support of his family and friends ultimately helped Falk with his recruitment process.

“I would definitely say my family and coaches helped me the most throughout the process. My family was super supportive and always willing to take me out to visits, some up to 5 hour drives away. My coaches from both Malvern and club also helped a lot with finding the right fit for me, which is of the utmost importance,” Falk said.

Falk’s commitment to the sport of lacrosse and his dedication to improve his athletic standards helped him lay out a set of goals for his future.

“My goals going forward in college once I get onto campus are to work hard in the classroom, be prepared and to contribute to the lacrosse team in any way I can”, Falk stated.

Falk’s passion on and off the field and his willingness to seek growth in himself by listening to his supportive peers is his ultimate advice to younger athletes.

“My advice to younger athletes would be to really take in everything you can when you visit schools or talk to coaches. When you’re on [the] campus of a school you will know whether that place feels like home or not and you should always have awareness of your gut feeling because that does mean a lot in your process.”
