Friar's Lantern

    Marc Nowlan ’17

“[Voting for the first time] is exciting. It gets your more into politics, and it makes you more aware of the world around you because you have to be more aware of what’s going on in the world around you in order to be an educated voter. And I think that you can check voter turnout was lower this year than it was last election, you can see people were generally dissatisfied with the candidates. And on top of that, people were crossing lines because they were unhappy with the candidate on their side.

I think the general view of this election for Americans was that we had a Democratic president for the past eight years and after his first two years of a Republican House and now a Republican Senate, people want change and they can see that in Donald Trump as opposed to Hillary Clinton.”
