A Trip to Remember

The 6th grade class took a trip to the Museum of the American Revolution.
A Trip to Remember

On April 17th, each grade in the middle school went on field trips to different locations. The 6th grade visited the Museum of the American Revolution, and I caught up with Mr. Swope about the trip.

The most interesting part of the field trip to Mr Swope was seeing the curiosity of the 6th grade boys as they put into practice the concepts we learned in class. When asked what new things he learned on the field trip, he commented,“This was my first visit to the museum since the pandemic. It is a wonderful piece of our history; I learn something new every time I visit.”

When asked if there is anything he would add to his class because of this trip, Mr. Swope responded, “I have contemplated a 6th grade trip to the museum at the very beginning of the school year to lay the groundwork for what we will learn and continue to study during the first term. In the six or seven class trips I have taken with our 6th grade boys, I have done so shortly after our studies of the Revolution. This works well too! The design and flow of the Museum of the American Revolution and all that it offers should draw anyone who has a passion for American history. The museum truly brings our nation’s history to life.”

I personally enjoyed this trip very much. I hope to return on my own someday, and I’m grateful to all the teachers who helped plan the trip!
