Most Malvern Prep middle school students are busy on the Day of Thanks and Giving. On Wednesday, November 20th, students in the middle school enjoyed a warm lunch representing a traditional Thanksgiving meal. After the Malvern community savored the delicious meal, students worked on a Christian service project to help the less fortunate.
When Mrs. Catania was asked questions about Comfy Covers, she mainly highlighted that it is about being selfless and putting others before yourself. When asked about the Mission of this Christian service project, she stated, “The mission of Comfy Covers is an opportunity to keep the homeless warm at night, especially during the winter months.” Next, Mrs. Catania highlighted that parents are invited to come in and help represent what St. Augustine preached : Caritas, Unitas, Veritas. The experience will simply bring the students closer together and give them the opportunity to take time out of their busy lives to raise awareness for the hungry and homeless, which is what Jesus calls us to do. As Deuteronomy 15:11 states, “You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and the poor, in your land.” This verse calls us to feed and watch after the poor.
Next, Anthony Tray was asked a few questions about his opinion about the event as he participated in it. Anthony was proud of himself and others as the event represents our brotherhood and core values. He commented that the atmosphere “was amazing with the music and everyone who showed up for the less fortunate.”
After the event was over, it was clear that the students enjoyed the time as they knew it was for an important cause. Working with Comfy Covers reminded the Malvern Community of what they’re all about.
