Meet Ward and Dougie. They are a part of the The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence program. This program is dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. They are a vibrant community filled with love, care, and acceptance. Ward and Dougie visit Malvern every Wednesday and are very happy to see everyone.
Ward lives in Swarthmore in a house with eight guys. He likes Malvern because of the beautiful campus, the lunch, the equipment, and especially the people. When Ward isn’t at Malvern, he is usually at home doing some fun activities like bowling, making/eating meatballs, and watching TV. Ward and his friends like watching the Phillies and wrestling.
Dougie lives in Swarthmore too with Ward. Dougie loves the mass at Malvern and he likes how nice everyone is. Something that you probably wouldn’t know about Dougie is that he has another job. At his job he greets everyone and checks them in. Another fact that you might not know is that Dougie likes rowing, and he’s a big fan of the Malvern team. Dougie usually watches rowing and sometimes the Phillies.
If you ever see Ward or Dougie make sure to say hello and maybe have a conversation with them. As a Augustinian community, it is important to welcome new people, and we’re happy to have both of them on campus!
