New President of Student Council Tommy Brecker ’20 outlines his plan for next year

Brecker has one goal as President next year, make it the best year Malvern has ever seen.

“We got a lot of plans to just make next year the greatest it’s been,” he said. “We got a lot of fun activities planned, we’re going to continue Family Feud, we’re going to continue to do some of the stuff that the previous seniors did with the Pep Rally, and we have some great ideas for the Talent Show next year, so we’re excited about that.”

According to Brecker, he and the rest of Student Council are focused on their first major event, Homecoming. However, they are still ready to take on the rest of the year.

“I’d say right now what I’m focused on is the Pep Rally, because that’s the first event of the year, I want to kick the year off with that good of an event,” Brecker said. “But every other event in the year, I’m still super excited and that’s a big goal for us too.”

Outside of the Pep Rally, Brecker is also hoping to bring back an every that Malvern students haven’t seen in a few years.

“One big idea that we have is we want to bring back Friday Morning Rallies next year. I know that they did them two years ago, and they were pretty cool,” he said. “But now that we have chapel, and kids don’t love going there everyday, I think it would be cool on Fridays… in the morning that would replace Chapel.”

One thing that Brecker would like to keep constant from this year to next is where his Pep Rally will be held.

“I thought that the Pep Rally being in Dougherty was a big hit,” he said. “I would like to keep it in Dougherty, I kind of like that smaller environment. I like that idea that they had.”

When Brecker graduates in a year and leaves his post as president of student council, he hopes to be remembered as having a positive inmapct on the school and the student body.

“I’d just like to be remembered as someone who listened to everyone’s opinion and did everything to the best of my ability and put on a lot of great events for everyone,” he said. “That’s the big goal, I want it to be a memorable class.”

Right now though, Brecker can’t wait to get to work. “I’m excited, I think we’re going to have a great year next year, and I’m pumped to start planning it all.”
