“It’s the first time in the history of MTS that all four performances have sold out before opening night. It’s just incredible,” said director of the show Dr. Jim Fry.

Over the four nights, not one of the 2,340 available seats remains.

“I always hoped that it would happen before opening night,” said Fry. “This show I saw a lot of tickets going out faster than usual. I was thinking there was a strong probability that it would happen before opening night.”

“I’m ecstatic! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to perform for everyone who’s coming!” said Christina Dietzler, a junior at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur who will be playing Sandy Dumbrowski.

Phil Daubney ‘15, who will be playing Danny Zuko added, “To be a lead in that show [that is the first to sell out it MTS history], that’s incredible to know every show is going to have every seat filled!”

Despite the sellout success, this show was not free from setbacks. The first day of Tech Week, Sunday, March 1, was canceled because of snow. The second day was shortened.

“We’re going to work really hard,” said Daubney. “We’re all going to start to panic a little bit, but I know we’re going to deliver. I think we’ll be fine.”

Unfortunately for those who were not able to get tickets, there are no plans in place for adding more shows or seats.

While Fry said he is not opposed to adding more shows, it may not be possible.

When Malvern gets the rights to do a show, they have to pay royalties. In order to add a show, the company that owns the show would have to approve it. The entire process could take a few weeks, according to Fry.

“I wish it was something as simple as snapping a finger, and everything would happen,” said Fry. “But it’s always a thought.”

The performances are on March 6, 7, 13, and 14.

It is also worth noting that ticket scalping is illegal in Pennsylvania.
