Summer reading assigned for all English classes

As the school year comes to it’s inevitable close, the students of Malvern Prep are now assigned with summer reading. Hopefully this isn’t being read towards the end of the summer, as you never want to be left with not enough time to complete what would have been a simple summer assignment. Enough with the chit-chat, here’s what you really came for:

For students entering the NINTH grade:

Enders’ Game  by  Orson Scott Card

Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit  by  Daniel Quinn

The Hunger Games by  Suzanne Collins

 

For students entering the TENTH grade ACADEMIC COURSE:

Catching Fire  by  Suzanne Collins

The following are required short stories.  They can be found online simply by clicking them.

For students entering the TENTH grade HONORS COURSE:

Students must read the following 4 Edgar Allan Poe stories, plus any other 4 Poe stories they like, for a total of 8 stories.

PLEASE NOTE: Those students who have been enrolled in the twelfth grade AP English course have received their reading list at the end of the 2013 school year.
