Class of 2018 delivers Student Council speeches

As the seniors on the Executive Board of Student Council wind down their terms, members of the junior class made their case to fill their roles.

The freshman, sophomore, and junior classes attended student council executive board candidate speeches in the Duffy Center on Thursday, March 3.

Presidential candidates included Louis Margay, Sean Oates, Rohan Jhunjhunwala, Andre Quintiliani, Liam McKnight, and Alex MacLachlan. Jack Walker ran unopposed for Events Chair, while Jack Leyden and Christian DiCicco both ran for Secretary.

Student Council co-moderator Mrs. Laurie Peslak opened the event with a prayer, and current president Rich Heany introduced each of the candidates.

The presidential candidate who wins the most votes will be named Student Council President, and the runner-up candidate will be named Vice President, according to Peslak and Student Council co-moderator Mr. Joan Dlugos.

Students vote for the candidates for President and Secretary on Friday, March 4. According to Dlugos, students can vote before school and during break in Carney 206, and during 1st and 3rd lunches in Stewart Hall. No votes will be accepted after 12:30 PM. If any students are absent that day, they can contact Dlugos or Peslak for an absentee ballot.

Videos of all speeches are posted below.
