How Our Community Came Together This School Year

How+Our+Community+Came+Together+This+School+Year

Malvern Prep, what a great community. Everybody is always willing to lend a helping hand and be there for one another. As we wind down into summer, it’s a great time to reflect on students’ valuable achievements that the teachers brought to the surface in the 2023-2024 school year, as well as both difficult and exciting times that our community came together.

Starting at the beginning of the year, there was the first mother-son chapel. It was such a great time as I saw so many moms and sons come together in reverence for the same reason. When asked about the event, Mr. Sillup emphasized that he thinks that Malvern is built around connection and those connections form relationships, which in turn form great experiences. Everyone throughout all grades shows that Malvern Prep is really about one unified mission.  Mr. Sillup added, “Couple this with the fact that it is an all-school event, in which the spectrum of our student body is represented, and it makes it all the more special for me from an administrator’s perspective.”

Learning Demonstration Day is a day for students to show off precious projects they worked on throughout the school year. I had a chance to talk to the Head of Academics and Director of Learning Demonstration Day, Mr. Pannulla, who thought the day was very eye-opening. This was amazing to hear as a student who participated in the celebrations. When asked how he thinks students feel when they see people engaging with their projects and if the students use it as motivation, Mr. Pannulla stated that he “hopes kids feed off the wonderful experience given to them by their teachers.” I also asked Mr. Pannulla how he believed the community helps create events such as these. He explained that these events are not just made possible by faculty and teachers, but parents and other community members, since every one of the adults there is there for the same reason: to see the hard-working young men succeed. Mr. Pannulla stated that the hard work from all the amazing people involved helped create this opportunity for so many people, and it brought our community together.

The Malvern community experienced different hardships, surprises, and exciting events this year, and through it all, we stayed together.
